N.I.T.E. Ride

It was a dark night, I was in the heart of the city, there were people everywhere, there was the sound of a gun, and.......it was time to ride baby!! Ok - no gun - I just need something dramatic to go along with the rest of the story. What really happened was I participated in the NITE ride (Navigate Indy This Evening) with a few friends. The ride started at 11:00 p.m. and by the time we reached the start line it was 11:20 with a finish time of 1:10 a.m. This was my first year for this ride and I was really looking forward to it. I couldn't believe how many people were there - like hundreds and hundreds of people. Before the ride started we watched some races on the Major Taylor Velodrome and checked out items for sale at the BGI tents. The ride went through the IUPUI campus, Butler campus, Indianapolis Art Garden, downtown Indy, down Meridian, and an exit ramp off of 38th St. to get back to the Velodrome (that was one of my favorite parts of the ride). The ride was 20 enjoyable miles - an experience that I'm so thankful for having and being able to share with friends.

Hostages!!

Ok, maybe it's not that dramatic but the picture is cute. The cat in the picture is Scooter and he belongs to my sister K. My parents and K like to play a dice game called 10,000 and they have taught us how to play. This past weekend my dad went to the flea markets by his house and bought a bunch of different colored dice and I told him that I would like to get some pink ones since that is my favorite color. So K tells me that she sent me a picture and low and behold there are some pink dice being held hostage by Scooter. The only way the dice will be released unharmed is if we go to Florida to visit Scooter and my family :)

From hippie to preppie

We have been patiently - so very patiently - waiting for our oldest son to get his hair cut. When he was younger I would always have his hair cut short, blah, blah, blah - pretty much like every other parent out there. Then something happened in 5th grade. I don't know if we were too busy or he decided on his own, but his hair started to grow and grow and grow. It looked so different on him that people at church didn't even recognize him. He seemed to like his hair long (well, what we consider long) and it looked good on him when he styled it.

Then Boscoe got highlights. Oh, I remember that day.....ummm ok, I'm back on track. Well, his hair was so long last summer that his nickname at dirtbike camp was "Hippie". We've asked several times to have his hair cut shorter, and Grandma and Grandpa "encouraged" him greatly to cut his hair. In the end I think it was a combination of heat, sweaty hair, and "encouragement" that finally did it.

I like this blog about the dog.

Just a little inspiration from Dr. Seuss. On Monday we got a new dog and so far, so good. He is an 8 month old golden retriever named Harley. Snickers (our old, girl dog) seems to be getting along well with Harley (our young, boy dog). Here is a picture of both dogs in our blog.

Happy Fathers Day!

The greatest gift I ever had came from God; I call him Dad!
Any man can be a father. It takes someone special to be a dad.

Happy Fathers Day Prince Charming!

With love,
Princess, Boscoe, and George

I love my new patio!

I am soooooo excited!! I've been waiting for the time when we could have a patio or deck - someplace to sit outside in the morning and have our first cup of coffe of the day, someplace to sit and relax and talk about our day, a place to visit with family and friends - and now it's here. I am soooooo excited! To begin with, there was a small patio on the back of our house when we moved in, then we built a bigger deck. Then we added on to our house, so the deck came off to make room and we could not decide (agree) on what to do next. Patio??? Deck??? Size, shape, material???

Well, I wont go into all the details, but we decided on regular concrete and we couldn't be happier. I also like working in my flower gardens and this was just one more opportunity to change things around - some people know how much/often I do that :). And we're still on the hunt for the perfect patio furniture and I'm sure that we'll find it one day soon.

For some reason coffee tastes so much better now......

From Dugout Divas to Bicycle Babes

Well, before I begin this story, I have to share another one. Prince Charming used to coach George's baseball team a few years ago and my friend "R" (her DS was on the team) and I would help in the dugout. I don't know if we started this or maybe it was Prince Charming, or both, but we ended up with the name Dugout Divas. Well the name stuck even though our boys aren't playing baseball any longer. Now to the rest of the story.....I love to ride my bike. Love it, love it, love it. Last year I rode in the Brownsburg B&O with my friend "C". Our plan was to ride the 45 mile route but it rained (really, it poured), and we did approximately 15 miles. We probably shouldn't have done it, but I was excited about the ride and in the end I did have fun.

I found out that "R" was riding her bike and we started riding together this year. The Brownsburg B&O was our first ride and we are going to do about four more rides before the snow flies. As you can see from the pictures, my family came out to cheer us on. Prince Charming and the boys made the sign - they put all kinds of things on there - I love pink ("R" and I both like the color), they wrote "pedal it to win it" which is a take off from a Travis Pastrana quote that they say when they are riding their dirtbikes, and other encouraging words. They even brought an old cow bell along and were ringing it when "R" and I were riding up to them. I have to say that it was fun, exciting, and motivating. At one of the rest stops the dog was there and was "greeting" everyone - I think George made a new friend that day. We did the 45 mile route and I only walked up part of one hill. I think we both enjoyed the ride and are looking forward to the next one. Now you know how two Dugout Divas became Bicycle Babes.

Meow......

This is for all of my friends at Ladoga Elementary School. Enough said.

It's time for another round of "I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't believe it for myself"

Ok everyone, it's time for another round of "I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it for myself". Can you hear the game show announcer's voice when you read that? I do - :) Well, Prince Charming knows that I like to take the scenic routes, back roads, the tourist route - whatever you call it - and that's usually when we find the best stuff like great garage sales, beautiful scenery, and sometimes things that make you appreciate everything that you have in life. So, let me tell you a little bit about these pictures. The giraffe is north of the town I live in out in the country and (obviously) in front a barn - why is it there? So many people want to know and we just cant find the answer. Then there's the sling shot picture. This was southwest of North Salem and it was even featured on Across Indiana. Sadly the tree has been removed but the memory lives on. The Weight Watcher/Baskin Robbins picture was in San Antonio. Prince Charming was there for work and at the time I was doing weight watchers and he thought this was hilarious. Anyone that has done weight watchers (or any diet) knows that this just isn't right! Oh the temptation - chocolate chip, mint chocolate chip, cookie dough, chocolate peanut butter - do you see a pattern here? The butterfly picture is from the White River Gardens in Indianapolis. There were several butterly trivia signs posted and this was too funny not to share.

Next is the Harley church in Attica. At one time this was a church, then it was an antique store, now it has something to do with Harleys. Prince Charming liked the picture - thought it was interesting hells angels at heavens gate. Last is the toilet. Everytime Prince Charming and I see a toilet in a yard, by the end of a driveway, or at a garage sale, we think of our friend (she shall remain nameless to protect her identity) that thinks they are so tacky. We do too, but for some reason we think of her (ok, there is a reason but that too shall remain in the deep dark recesses of our minds). Anyway, Prince Charming saw this lovely sight by Lafayette and couldn't resist sharing it.

I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it for myself.....

Have you ever seen something and said that to yourself? There have been several times when Prince Charming and I have seen something and wondered "why would someone do that?". For example, north of the town we live by, there is a giant metal giraffe in a certain front yard. And I'm talking giant - as tall as a house - I promise to post a picture of it. The real question is why would someone do that?? Can't figure it out, but I know that I don't want something like that in my yard. I've also seen a toilet in a front yard with some very pretty flowers planted in the bowl - and this year they built an arbor around it. Our first picture for this post is a pink elephant that we saw on our way back from Florida last year. I don't remember where it was, but you couldn't miss it!

Lincoln Trail Motorsports

This Lincoln Trails Motorsports in Casey, IL - the home track for Boscoe and George. They boys usually do motocross races and Prince Charming will do hare scrambles. There are also some pictures of Prince Charming at the Ironman, a national race held in Crawfordsville, IN. This year Prince Charming particiapted for the first time - there are pictures of him at various places during the race and then afterwards. One of our favorite pictures is George's game face.....what a tough guy!

My boys love dirt bikes

Some of you may know that my husband and my boys love to ride dirt bikes. This will be the third year that they have been racing and they really enjoy it. Here are pictures from some of their past races.
